Automotive half shaft steel material

The grades of half shaft materials are 5140, 4140, 40MnB, 40CrMnMo, 4135o, 35CrMnSi, 5140V and 1045 steel and other materials that can meet the requirements of this standard. The selection of materials for shaft parts is mainly determined by the strength, stiffness, wear resistance and manufacturing process of the shaft with the factors to be economical and reasonable.

Commonly used shaft parts materials are 1035, 1045, 1050 high-quality carbon steel. 1045 steel is the most widely used material. Ordinary carbon steels such as Q235 and Q255 can also be used for shafts with less or less important loads.

Alloy steel can be used for those with large force, limited axial size and weight or some special requirements. For example, 40Cr alloy steel can be used in medium-precision and high-speed work situations. After quenching and tempering, the material has better comprehensive mechanical properties; Cr15, 65Mn and other alloy steels can be used in situations with high precision and poor working conditions. These materials have good wear resistance and fatigue strength after quenching and tempering and surface quenching;

If the shaft parts work under high speed and heavy load conditions, use 20Cr, 20CrMnTi, 20Mn2B and other low carbon steels or 38CrMoAlA infiltration Carbon steel, after carburizing, quenching or nitriding, not only has high surface hardness, but also its core strength is greatly improved, so it has good wear resistance, impact toughness and fatigue strength.

Ductile iron and high-strength cast iron are often used in the manufacture of shafts with complex shape and structure due to their good casting properties and vibration damping properties. In particular, the rare earth-magnesium ductile iron developed in my country has the advantages of good impact toughness, friction reduction, vibration absorption, and low sensitivity to stress concentration. It has been used in the manufacture of important shaft parts for automobiles, tractors and machine tools.

The half shaft (DriverShaft), also called the drive shaft (CVJ, CVjoint, constantvelocityjoint), is the shaft that connects the differential with the drive wheels. The half shaft is the shaft that transmits torque between the gearbox reducer and the drive wheel, and its inner and outer ends each have a universal joint (U/JOINT) connected to the reducer gear and the inner ring of the hub bearing through the splines on the universal joint. . The half shaft is the shaft that transmits torque between the gearbox reducer and the driving wheel (mostly solid in the past, but because the rotation unbalance control of the hollow shaft is easier, so many cars use hollow shafts).
